Funding Youth Art in our Community

The Arts Society Canterbury collaborating with Art Bytes and St Stephens Junior School

At The Arts Society Canterbury we are aware that the arts in education have been underfunded and art budgets do not have the resources for new initiatives.  We aim to inspire children with an enthusiasm and love for the arts, in all its forms, be it in the classroom, through exhibitions, visits and workshops. 

A collaborative digital exhibition project between Art Bytes, St Stephens Junior School and The Arts Society Canterbury is underway during 2025.  We are sponsoring Year 5 of St Stephens Junior School and successfully applied for The Arts Society Community Grant of £250 of which £180 has paid for the Registration Fee; the balance will be discussed with the School in due course. 

 Art Bytes is a national EdTech programme that utilises a bespoke, immersive, virtual gallery to give pupils the opportunity to see their art exhibited online. 

From the submitted art pieces, there will be a shortlist of three made by a professional panel of artists followed by an online public vote by families and friends in April to vote for their favourite piece.  The winners will see their work displayed in the Art Bytes virtual gallery.  In the Summer a celebration event will take place in each of the nine regions of England.

We believe this initiative encourages creativity and builds confidence through the power of art on a public platform and hope the pupils will enjoy seeing the outcome of their efforts being celebrated … watch this space …
